A study of superintendents found a greater percentage of women in that job last year than 10 years ago.
The American Association of School Administrators, based in Arlington, Va., surveyed nearly 2,000 superintendents on their perspectives, demographics, and professional experiences as part of a series of studies released every 10 years.
The study found that 24 percent of superintendents in 2010 were women compared with 13 percent in 2000. It shows that half of those polled 51 percent expected to be in the same job in 2015, suggesting turnover rates may be high in upcoming years.
