Mothers and Children
A report that lists the best and worst countries for mothers and children to live in says that 58 million girls worldwide do not attend school.
Released last week by Westport, Conn.-based Save the Children, a humanitarian organization, the study found that Sweden was the best country for mothers and children, while nations in sub-Saharan Africa ranked at the bottom. The United States was rated in the 11th-best place.
The report ranks 110 countries based on the health and living conditions of mothers and their children. Indicators for health included infant-mortality rates, percent of women using contraception, and literacy rates among adult women.
