A summary of “Report on the Teacher Needs Survey” is posted by the American Psychological Association.
The biggest needs of teachers in grades pre-K to 12 are learning how to manage their classrooms more effectively and developing skills to improve student achievement related to the No Child Left Behind Act, according to a national survey.
Rookie teachers are particularly in need of developing skills to raise student achievement, according to the nationwide survey of more than 2,300 public school teachers by the Washington-based American Psychological Association’s Coalition for Psychology in Schools and Education.
To address those needs, teachers said they would prefer professional development courses or small, in-district workshops over larger regional workshops.
