A story in the Oct. 5, 2005, issue of Education Week about Utah’s special-needs scholarship program (“Utah Lacking Takers for New Special-Needs Voucher”)mistakenly stated that Colorado cut funding to schools by $900,000 to help pay for the program. The story should have said that Utah cut that amount in school aid.

A story in the Oct. 12 issue about overrepresentation of minorities in special education (“Minority Overrepresentation in Special Ed. Targeted”) should have said that 17.4 percent of black students with disabilities have mental retardation and that 11.3 percent of black students with disabilities are considered emotionally disturbed. The article mistakenly said that those percentages were of black students overall. Likewise, the comparative percentages were for all students with disabilities, not all students.

A version of this article appeared in the October 19, 2005 edition of Education Week
