More than one-third of children younger than 2 have now used a mobile device to watch a video, play a game, or use an app.
That is among the findings from a nationally representative survey of 1,463 parents of children 8 and younger conducted by Common Sense Media.
Seventy-two percent of those children have used mobile devices for media activities, nearly double the rate found in 2011. And their average length of time on them went from 43 minutes each day in 2011 to 67 minutes in 2013.
There’s been an overall decline in total screen time, more than half the result of children watching less TV.
