The Pennsylvania State Education Association, the state’s largest teachers’ union, issued a strong endorsement last week for using student test scores in evaluating teachers. It also proposed a streamlined dismissal process for teachers and principals. Gov. Tom Corbett, a Republican, wants statewide evaluation procedures in place by the 2012-13 school year that are expected to use student performance to judge teacher ability.
