Teachers at an elementary school in Chicago have announced that they will refuse to administer state-mandated standardized tests that were scheduled to start this week.
Some 40 teachers at Saucedo Scholastic Academy unanimously voted to boycott the Illinois Standards of Achievement Tests. Because the ISAT is soon to be replaced by common-core-aligned assessments, scores will not be used for student promotion, teacher evaluation, or selective-school admissions.
District officials say all employees are expected “to fulfill their responsibilities to ensure we are in compliance with the law.”
