U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius launched a “national conversation” on mental health at the White House last week.
As a part of the event, President Barack Obama and Mr. Duncan again appealed to Congress to find more than $200 million to pay for more counselors, social workers, and psychologists, and other services in schools.
The administration launched the new mentalhealth.gov website, which carries tools and information about mental health, signs of mental illness, and how to get help. Mr. Obama emphasized that mental illness is often incorrectly linked to violence.
