Milwaukee school board President Michael Bonds says the public is being misled when told a mayoral takeover of the district would improve Wisconsin’s chances of qualifying for federal stimulus money. He spoke at a hearing last week before the state Assembly’s Education Reform Committee. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Gov. Jim Doyle support that move, as do those who say it would position Wisconsin better to qualify for more than $4 billion in federal money.
