Terry Grier

Terry Grier, the Houston schools superintendent, will step down next March, after six years on the job.

Under his tenure, Houston was named a finalist in 2012 for one of the most prestigious awards in big-city public education, the Broad Prize for Urban Education. The district won the award the following year.

He was also named the 2014 Urban Educator of the Year by the Council of the Great City Schools and was a 2015 Education Week Leader To Learn From.

Matthew Kramer

Matthew Kramer, a co-CEO of Teach For America, will leave the organization by year’s end, also bringing to an end the experiment of having two top officers run TFA.

Kramer and Elisa Villanueva Beard were appointed co-CEOs in 2013. Beard will handle the position alone.

After working for the management-consulting firm McKinsey & Co. Kramer was hired as TFA’s chief program officer and became president in 2007.

Linda Lane

Linda Lane, the superintendent of the Pittsburgh school district, has announced that she will step down at the end of the school year in June.

Lane joined the district as deputy superintendent in 2007 and became superintendent in 2011. Previously, she was the deputy superintendent of the Des Moines school system in Iowa.
