Joseph P. Reynolds has been appointed president of Scholastic Library Publishing.
Mr. Reynolds, 53, left his position as the president and chief executive officer of the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based ProQuest Information and Learning Co.— which provides access to online content in fields ranging from science to business—to take the Scholastic job.
The Danbury, Conn.-based Scholastic Library Publishing, a division of the New York City-based Scholastic Inc., provides public and school libraries with non-fiction and reference materials in print and online formats.
Christina Ohana is the new field editor for Science & Children, a journal for elementary science educators that is published eight times a year by the National Science Teachers Association and reaches about 22,000 readers.
During her three-year term as field editor, which begins June 1, Ms. Ohana, will continue to serve as an associate professor of science education at the 12,500-student Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash. As field editor, Ms. Ohana will be responsible for the content of Science & Children.
The Arlington, Va.-based NSTA has 55,000 members, who are science educators in the United States and other countries.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has promoted Brandon T. Neal to be the national director of the organization’s youth, college, and young-adult division.
Mr. Neal, 24, was the NAACP’s mid-Atlantic field director and national youth-council coordinator before being tapped this month for his new position.
The Baltimore-based civil rights organization has 500,000 members in the United States and three foreign countries.
