To the Editor:
In your March 23, 2005, article “Progress Report on ‘No Child’ Law Shows Hits and Misses,” it is interesting that more emphasis is placed on why the gain in student achievement can’t be sustained than on the fact there has been a gain. It might be more productive to continue the research on why there are gains and how we can foster their continuation. Or is your reporting a method of pushing other agendas? Student growth and achievement, I believe, are the ultimate objective.
