An organization devoted to the contributions of the nation’s first ladies has created a new online resource for educators.

Developed in collaboration with the education faculty at Kent State University, the National First Ladies Library’s K-12 curriculum includes 21 separate lesson plans on each first lady. The lessons are categorized by skill level and subject (e.g., social issues, arts, and science.).

Review the National First Ladies Library’s educational curriculum.

Examples of lesson topics include Eleanor Roosevelt’s work for universal human rights and Lady Bird Johnson’s involvement in parks development. Other lessons focus more broadly on historical developments that took place during the first ladies’ lives.

The site also includes a timeline showing significant events from 1730 to 2005.

The lessons meet national and state standards, according the developers, and are searchable by standards coverage.
