• An In Perspective story on students in New Orleans in the Jan. 16, 2008, issue of Education Week should have said that Janay Barconey had attended Eleanor McMain Secondary School since the 9th grade. The story also should have said that Ms. Barconey received a B in her chemistry course.

• An Eye on Research article and chart in the Jan. 23 issue should have said that a study by Philip J. Cook and colleagues at the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University compared 6th graders’ behavior in middle schools with that of 6th graders attending K-6 schools, not in K-8 schools.

• A Report Roundup item in the Jan. 23 issue on “The Funding Gap,” a study by the Education Trust, should have said that 16 states have seen their funding gaps between low-income and upper-income school districts increase by at least $200 per student, not by an average of that amount. Likewise, the item should have said that 10 states have narrowed such gaps by spending at least $200 more per student in low-income districts.

A version of this article appeared in the January 30, 2008 edition of Education Week
