Results from the “JA Worldwide/Diversity Pipeline Alliance Poll,” are posted by Junior Achievement Worldwide.

Nearly 90 percent of African-American youths who participated in a recent survey said they plan to attend college, higher than the 79 percent reported for young whites and the 77 percent response for Hispanics.

The online poll—conducted by Rochester, N.Y.-based Harris Interactive for the Diversity Pipeline Alliance and Junior Achievement Worldwide—surveyed a nationally representative sample of 1,264 youths in the United States ages 8 to 18. It also found that 63 percent of African-American youths reported that “having enough money” was the biggest obstacle to attending college, compared with 55 percent of whites and 59 percent of Hispanics.
