The Crow Canyon Archaeological Center in Colorado has developed a number of study guides and lesson plans designed to engage students in the study of archaeology and American Indian history.

The lessons, targeted mainly to grades 4 through 8, use research from archaeological sites associated with the Pueblo Indians to teach students about human migration, settlement patterns, excavation strategies, and cultural perspectives.
According to the center, the lessons cover basic concepts in math, language arts, the social sciences, and the scientific method.
The center is also assembling “community history trunks”—repositories of historical objects and replicas representing different ethnic groups—for use by local teachers in their classrooms.
