"Higher Education and Disability: Improved Federal Enforcement Needed to Better Protect Students' Rights to Testing Accommodations"
College-entrance exams such as the ACT and SAT aren't always reformatted for students with disabilities the way they should be, a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office finds.
Under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, college-entrance exams have to offer accommodations, such as more time or changes in the test format, to students with disabilities.
But students said they weren't always given accommodations in the way they expected or the way they were used to being accommodated at school. They also said the process for requesting accommodations was often complicated or unreasonable.
