Lauren DeFino, a 6th grade teacher in the Bronx neighborhood of New York, teaches her students how to take an engineering approach to problem-solving. By understanding the many ways in which engineers work to solve problems, students learn that one decision can have many outcomes. With an engineering mindset, students can evaluate which methods and outcomes are best in any given situation.
