The Public Broadcasting Service and a Boston-based television, radio, and multimedia operation are teaming up to produce more online professional-development courses for science teachers.
PBS TeacherLine, the Arlington, Va.-based online professional-development resource of PBS, offers more than 100 online courses and other Internet-based resources for teachers in mathematics, reading, and instructional strategies. But after a review, they noticed one glaring weak spot, according to Tim Lum, a PBS spokesman.

“We have a number of courses across the curriculum, but one of our weak spots was in science,” he said.
To fill that void, PBS entered into a partnership with WGBH’s Teachers’ Domain, which offers online resources and courses.
Beginning in June, the partnership will offer three new professional-development courses for teachers: physical science, life science, and earth and space science.
