Brenda Cassellius, until recently Minnesota’s education commissioner, is the new superintendent for the Boston district. She previously worked as a paraprofessional, teacher, and superintendent in districts in Minnesota and Tennessee.

Mike Looney, the superintendent of the Williamson County school district in Franklin, Tenn., has been hired to lead the Fulton County, Ga., school system. He previously served as a superintendent in Alabama.

Michael Rice

Michael Rice, the schools superintendent in Kalamazoo, Mich., has been chosen to head up that state’s education department. He has also been a superintendent in New Jersey and worked as a teacher in the District of Columbia.

Darryl l. Williams has been selected as the new superintendent of the Baltimore County school system.

A divided school board passed over Verletta White, who had led the system for the past two years. Williams is an area associate superintendent for eight clusters of schools in nearby Montgomery County. White has been interim superintendent of Baltimore County since the departure of Dallas Dance, who was convicted of perjury for failing to disclose that he had a part-time job with a company that had a contract with the school system.
