There’ve been a couple of last-minute rule changes to the $3.5 billion Title I school improvement grants program that I wanted to draw your attention to over at the Politics K-12 blog.
The upshot is that states are going to be able to widen the pool of low-performing schools to which they can direct the grants, and those schools will be able to get as much as $2 million a year for their turnaround efforts. That’s a big boost from the $500,000 maximum grant per school per year that the Education Department had been planning.
