To the Editor:

I wish your paper and others would focus, once in a while, on those schools in America that do work and are outfitting students with skills equal to or better than those in countries often touted as being superior to American schools.

My high school has infused critical and creative thinking into all courses. We focus on higher-order thinking leading to deep understanding. Our kids learn how to solve ambiguous problems working in groups using technology. Our kids graduate with skills that make them equal to or better than others they meet in college. Why not come and visit?

Each standardized test we are forced to administer diminishes our ability to do what I have just described.
