“Praise for Preschool: California Kindergarten Teachers Say All Children Will Benefit” is posted by Preschool California.
The vast majority of kindergarten teachers in California—88 percent—say they spend extra time in their classrooms working on basic skills with children who did not attend preschool, according to a poll of 521 kindergarten teachers in the state.
Released by Preschool California, an Oakland-based advocacy organization, the poll also shows that 95 percent of those surveyed said that children who attend an early-childhood education program are better prepared for kindergarten—with skills such as counting, knowing colors, paying attention, and following instructions—than those who didn’t attend preschool. The poll—which has a margin of error of 4.3 percentage points—was conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates, a Washington-based survey research firm.
