Because of a production error, the last line of the July 30, 2008, Commentary “Raising Graduation Rates in an Era of High Standards,” by Cheryl Almeida and Adria Steinberg, was cut.
The final sentence should have read: “These five state-policy commitments point the way to turning what may seem unattainable into a must-win ‘mission possible’ of making high standards achievable for all students.”
A story in the same issue about California’s new 8th grade algebra testing mandate incorrectly described the Instructional Research Group of Signal Hill, Calif. It is a nonprofit research institute specializing in education topics.
