A story about U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige in the Feb. 7, 2001, issue of Education Week (“Urban Leaders See Paige as ‘Our Own’”) mischaracterized the position of some urban districts toward President Clinton’s 1997 proposal for national tests. According to the Council of the Great City Schools, 15 urban districts agreed to participate.
