The top legal officers of 27 states are calling on federal and state agencies to make changes to ensure that K-12 and college students are safe on campus.

The National Association of Attorneys General, in the wake of the deadly shootings at Virginia Tech last spring, recommend removing barriers to sharing information on individuals who are under investigation. The group is also calling for state and federal officials to clarify how much information, including mental-health records, can be shared under existing laws.
