The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium has hired an outside organization to examine test results in three states that experienced disruptions last spring: Montana, Nevada, and North Dakota.

The review is being undertaken by the National Center for the Improvement of Educational Assessment, a nonprofit in Dover, N.H., that works on testing issues. In all three states, the 2015 tests were administered by Measured Progress, but they also used a test-delivery platform created for Smarter Balanced by the American Institutes for Research.

Smarter Balanced said the review will focus on making sure the three states’ test scores are valid and can be reported accurately.
