Regarding your front-page article (“States Pressed to Refashion Reading First Grant Designs,” Sept. 7, 2005):
Wait a second. Aren’t the people who are complaining about the Reading First guidance and programs provided by Christopher J. Doherty and others the same ones who have miserably failed poor and minority students over the past 20-plus years? Why should Education Week or anyone else take their concerns seriously?
