Sessions from the Department of Education’s summer Teacher-to-Teacher workshops can now be viewed on the Web.
The Department of Education provides recorded sessions of the teacher workshops, which can also be found online from the Florida Education Channel.
The online video sessions focus on subject-specific teaching methods and were conducted live by master teachers in seven regional workshops this past summer. The department hopes the new format would allow teachers to undertake professional development at times convenient to them.
The Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative Web page also includes teaching aids that can be downloaded and used to follow along with the video. The videos are also available by satellite through the Florida Education Channel.
Meanwhile, the department has launched a new series of live Teacher-to-Teacher workshops. The remaining sessions will be devoted to reading instruction, in Wheeling, W.Va., on Oct. 16; and to math instruction, in Redmond, Wash., on Oct. 23 and in Madison, Wis., on Nov. 6.
