Colorado has awarded nearly $1 million in grants to schools to hire health workers using revenue generated by a sales tax on marijuana, which is legal in the state.
Another $2.5 million remains to be awarded, the Denver Post reports. Schools will use the grants to hire nurses, social workers, counselors, and psychologists.
Tightened school budgets around the country have led to declining numbers of student-support staff, including nurses and counselors.
