Vallas Named Running Mate for Illinois’ Gov. Quinn

Former Chicago schools chief Paul Vallas has been tapped as Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn’s running mate in the 2014 Illinois gubernatorial contest.

Mr. Vallas was the chief executive officer of the Chicago school system from 1995 to 2001 and also had stints running the public school districts in New Orleans and Philadelphia. He’s currently serving as the superintendent of the Bridgeport, Conn., district.
