Three U.S. high school football players have died within a 1½-week span, according to news reports.
A New York high school football player died after collapsing on the field Oct. 1. Tom Cutinella, who attended Shoreham-Wading River High School in Long Island, collided with an opponent while blocking for a teammate. Police and school officials believe the death was the result of a head injury.
Demario Harris Jr., a cornerback at Charles Henderson High School in Troy, Ala., collapsed on the field moments after making a tackle during a Sept. 26 game, according to AL.com. After spending two days in intensive care, he was pronounced dead.
In Rolesville, N.C., Isaiah Langston of Rolesville High School died after collapsing on the field before a game on Sept. 26, ABC11.com said.
