White: 94.9 percent
Persons of color*: 5.1 percent (up from 3.9 percent in 1992).
Gender
Male: 86.6 percent
Median age: 52.5
Time in current position (median): five to six years
Political affiliation:
Democrat: 35 percent
Republican: 33.5 percent
Independent: 31.5 percent
Views on gender discrimination:
Percentage of female superintendents who agree that school boards don’t view women as strong managers: 81.6
Percentage of male superintendents who agree with that statement: 42.6.
