The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy is offering four regional meetings this spring for school administrators on student drug-testing issues.
Participants will hear presentations on research, technology, and legal issues associated with random drug testing in schools. Information about federal grants for student drug-testing programs will also be provided.
Random student drug testing has been a priority for the Bush administration over the past several years. President Bush is asking for $25 million in his proposed fiscal 2006 budget to support drug-testing programs in schools, an increase of $15 million over the 2005 appropriation.
