Reauthorization for the federal education research law may be stalled, but the nation’s education research labs are moving ahead with partnerships with schools, districts, and other stakeholders.
More than 85 research and education groups are scheduled to gather in Arlington, Va. tomorrow for a seminar held by the REL Northeast and Islands on “Reciprocal Capacity Building: Researchers and Practitioners Learning Together” in Arlington, Va. to discuss eight ongoing research partnerships in areas such as early childhood education and college and career-readiness. Participants will discuss ways to plan longterm research agendas and projects, as well as creating networks of multiple alliances to share work. As part of their most recent contract, the regional labs have been focusing much more on building districts’ and states’ research capacity through partnerships to study specific issues.
“We are convening this group to share how our researchers and alliance members are learning from each other,” said Jill Weber, REL-NEI director in a statement on the meeting. “We also want to explore how our colleagues in the REL program are developing their collaborative research structures.”
