The Ohio education department will expand its investigation into allegations of “data scrubbing” in four districts to see whether they improperly reported attendance data for 2012-13.

Department officials said last week they were broadening the ongoing probe after determining that the districts—Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo—"showed evidence” of altering their 2011-12 attendance data. Columbus also improperly reported its 2010-11 attendance data, according to the state.

The state will issue new report cards for the 2011-12 academic year for Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Toledo, and new cards for Columbus covering 2010-11 and 2011-12.
