Bill Cosby Promotes Detroit Public Schools...Again.

For the second time in two weeks, Bill Cosby--funny man, preacher of personal responsibility, and an Ed.D. in education--will be in Detroit to help school officials there lure more students back to a system that has been hemorrhaging students for years.

Cosby, who went door-to-door on Sept. 1 to encourage families to enroll their children in DPS, will be back Sunday to tape public-service announcements touting the district. The take-no-prisoners attitude of Robert Bobb, DPS’ emergency financial manager who has pledged to root out corruption and turn around years of mismanagement, made quite an impression on Cosby, who saw an interview with Bobb recently on CNN.

As this press release makes clear, the district is counting every additional student it enrolls as a sign of progress.

You can read Ed Week’s recent take on the Detroit situation here. And watch a video with a Q and A with Bobb here.
