An overwhelming majority of adults are concerned about the expanding waistlines of children in the United States, with 84 percent viewing childhood obesity as a “major problem,” according to a Wall Street Journal Online/Harris Interactive Health-Care Poll.

View the results of the “Wall Street Journal Online/Harris Interactive Health-Care Poll,” posted by Harris Interactive.

The poll found that 81 percent of adults blame parents, not marketing and food-industry advertising, for children’s weight problems; 83 percent say public schools should boost efforts to restrict student access to junk foods; and 93 percent believe schools need to “do more to promote regular exercise.”

The results of the poll were based on the responses of 2,078 adults.
