The stories of five low-performing schools that were successfully turned around are told in this report from Public Impact, a research and consulting group based in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The schools are: Box Elder 7-8 School in Box Elder, Mont.; Cobb Elementary in Anniston, Ala.; Holabird Academy in Baltimore; MacArthur Middle School in Berkeley, Ill.; and Westwood High School in Memphis, Tenn.
The report is among a series of studies released by the research group this month on transforming persistently failing schools.
