A new report projects that K-12 schools will spend $103.46 per student in 2004 on educational technology, or a little more than $5 billion, which represents an 18 percent increase over the previous year.
Produced by Market Data Retrieval, a Shelton, Conn.-based market-research firm that tracks educational technology trends, the survey also found that more than two-thirds of school technology budgets are earmarked for hardware purchases, 16 percent for software, 9 percent for outside services, and 6 percent for staff development.
