North Carolina is facing a critical teacher shortage that could threaten school improvement efforts, according to a report by the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research, based in Raleigh.
The report estimates that some 10,000 new teachers will have to be hired each year through the end of the decade to keep up with demand.
