Wyo. Home-Schoolers Can Join School-Sponsored Activities
Home-schooled students in Wyoming can now participate in schools’ extracurricular activities, the Wyoming High School Activities Association has determined.
The association’s members voted during April and May on a one-year pilot program to include home-schooled students.
Only about 15 home-schooled students are expected to take part in activities, including sports, said Larry Klaasen, the director of the association. There is no record of how many high school students in Wyoming are home schooled; state law requires students to register for school only through 8th grade.
Under the terms of the pilot program, home schools could either pay $100 to register with the activity association to form their own team or pay a portion of the school’s fee and play on the school team.
