“Primary Progress, Secondary Challenge: A State-by-State Look at Student Achievement Patterns” is published by The Education Trust.
Despite commitments to improve reading and mathematics achievement, states are still not making enough progress in helping all students reach grade-level standards in those subjects, concludes a report that examines reading and math achievement in all 50 states.
The report—produced by the Washington-based Education Trust—analyzed state assessment results from 2003 to 2005. It found that progress had been made in closing achievement gaps in the elementary grades, but middle and high schools are still struggling to close those gaps.
