Carolyn F. Randolph was recently elected to a one-year term as the president of the National Science Teachers Association.

During her term, Ms. Randolph, 57, will continue to serve as the vice president for the outreach and research program with the 138-student South Carolina Governor’s School for Math and Science.

The Arlington, Va.-based NSTA has more than 53,000 members.

At the end of this month, Denise Glyn Borders will become the senior vice president and director of the U.S. Education and Workforce Development Group at the Academy for Educational Development.

Ms. Borders currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of the McKenzie Group, a national educational consulting firm based in Washington.

The Education and Workforce Development Group seeks to improve educational access and workforce preparation for students. The Washington- based AED works to resolve problems in education, research, and work training in the United States and 167 other countries.

Charles Benton and Linda G. Roberts were recently elected to the Education Development Center’s board of trustees for three-year terms.

Mr. Benton serves as the chairman of Public Media Inc., a video publisher based in Chicago. Ms. Roberts, who was the senior adviser on technology for the U.S. Department of Education during the Clinton administration, is a private education and technology consultant based in Darnestown, Md.

The EDC is a nonprofit research-and-development organization based in Newton, Mass.
