MAK Mitchell has been appointed the executive director of the Urban Assembly, a nonprofit organization that supports small secondary schools in New York City. Ms. Mitchell, 56, was most recently a local instructional superintendent in the city school district’sautonomy zone and the director of campus management for the office of new schools in the city’s department of education.
