The Consortium on Chicago School Research has named Paul Goren, a senior vice president at the Spencer Foundation, as its new director.
Mr. Goren—who replaces John Q. Easton, now the head of the federal Institute of Education Sciences—is well known in education circles for his role at the Chicago-based foundation. The consortium’s style of research, conducted in collaboration with the Chicago school system, has become a national model for urban school studies.
A former middle school teacher and a Chicago native, Mr. Goren has held posts at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and with the Minneapolis public schools and the National Governors Association.
