A Commentary by David C. Bloomfield in the Jan. 25, 2006, issue of Education Week (Come Clean on Small Schools) misidentified the group that evaluated the first two years of the New Century High Schools initiative in New York City. It was Policy Studies Associates Inc.

• An article in the Feb. 1 issue on a school district’s plans to recruit foreign students (Mass. District Envisions Money in Foreign Exchange) misstated Germany’s and Japan’s rankings among countries that send the greatest number of foreign exchange students to the United States. Germany ranks first, and Japan fourth.

• A correction in the Feb. 8 issue gave an incorrect year for a story on a new research organization. It appeared in the Feb. 1, 2006, issue.

• Also in the Feb. 8 issue, a story on a laptop-computer initiative for children in poor countries (U.N. Agency Signs On to Help Spread Low-Cost Laptops) gave the wrong location for the group One Laptop Per Child. Although it is a Delaware corporation, the group is based in Cambridge, Mass.
