“Keeping California’s Edge: The Growing Demand for Highly Educated Workers” is posted by The Campaign for College Opportunity.

California’s future economic strength will depend on its ability to meet the growing demand for highly educated workers, concludes a study that examines occupational-growth projections for the state through 2022.

By that year, one in three new California jobs will require at least an associate’s degree, compared with about one in four today, says the report, sponsored by the California Business Roundtable and The Campaign for College Opportunity. Education, health care, and professional, scientific, and technical services are the three industry sectors that will generate the most demand for highly educated workers, according to the analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the state’s employment-development department.
