In an effort to give greater exposure to issues that surround climate change, a team of adventurers is using the Web to chronicle an expedition through the Arctic.
The expedition, “Mission 1” of an environmental educational organization called Adventure Ecology, aims to traverse the Arctic Ocean from Russia to Canada via the North Pole. The Adventure Ecology site includes text and audio dispatches from team members, as well as Global Positioning Satellite updates.

The site also provides background information on climate change and the Arctic region and an animated learning tool in which participants can sign on to become “adventure ecologists.”
A section for teachers describes the curriculum philosophy behind the project.
