Corrections
Three photos in the Aug. 6 issue of Education Week were mislabeled. The photo accompanying a story about a New York state proposal that would require high school students to declare an academic major was of J. Edward Meyer, a member of the board of regents.
In a story about a safety audit in the Seminole County, Fla., schools, the pictures of security director Wolfgang W. Halbig and Superintendent Paul J. Hagerty were reversed.
Clarifications
The story in the Aug. 6 issue about the Seminole County, Fla., safety audit implied that an undercover officer posing as a student to examine security issues in county schools misbehaved in class as part of her assignment. According to district officials, the district instructed the officer not to disrupt classes or create discipline problems.
